Navigating the template editor →

The ConnectReport template editor is the primary space where report authors create and maintain templates and report tasks. There are several areas of the template editor referred to throughout the documentation. The following diagram denotes the names of these areas used. When navigating the sidebar using the sidebar navigation, such as by clicking “Filters” or “Data”, note that we may refer to these sections as the “filters sidebar” or “data sidebar”.

Using rulers and guides →

The template editor includes horizontal and vertical rulers, as well as guides. Guides can be added to facilitate aligning components in a template. Note that rulers and guides are not supported in the Spreadsheet template mode. Show or hide rulers # To show or hide rulers, navigate to a template. Within the Template ribbon menu, click Show rulers or Hide rulers Note that rulers are on by default in later versions of ConnectReport when working with the Report Document template type.

Using live preview →

When working with a template, the data sidebar displays a helpful live preview of template output as you work. You may refer to the live preview throughout the report design process in order to gauge the resulting layout of your template. Note that the live preview navigation only appears once you select a data source for your template. To view the live preview, click the small + button next to the “Report preview” section.

Working with the data sidebar →

The data sidebar is used to bring data into templates from data connections. Data components used in templates include visualizations, dimensions, measures, tables, pivot tables, and dynamic text. Choosing a data source # In a new template, the first step of working with the data sidebar is choosing a data source. Depending on the data connections your administrator has configured, you may see several options in the data sidebar, including, for example, Qlik Sense or Sisense.
